Develop the knowledge and skills to provide effective mental health services for the adoption kinship network.

This year-long program includes classroom and remote instruction as well as clinical case consultation to assist participants in mastering 18 areas of knowledge, values and skills critical to adoption competent mental health services. It is recognized by the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare for promising research evidence and accredited by the Institute of Credentialing Excellence (ICE).

Adoption-Competent Clinicians are In-Demand

Adoptive parents often struggle to find therapists skilled in working with adoptive families. Family Hope House is committed to ensuring that families are supported to help their adoptive children thrive.

Research shows that children with traumatic experiences are at high risk for adjustment within their adoptive families. They often have complex emotional issues, which adoptive parents identify as a primary family stressor post-adoption. TAC equips professionals with clinical skills and knowledge to meet these families' needs and achieve positive outcomes.

TAC Participants:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of core adoption issues, current clinical tools, and evidence-based approaches.

  • Develop advanced skills through clinical case consultation from adoption competent experts.

  • Engage in practices that produce better child and family outcomes and higher client satisfaction.

  • Receive national recognition in C.A.S.E’s Directory of TAC Trained Mental Health Providers.

Testimonial

Having a regular space to engage with other professionals who are working amongst the foster and adoptive populations has transformed my knowledge and confidence in going beyond creating merely a safe place for the child to explore their foster/adoptive journey. I feel I am now more competent but of greater importance, I am confident in processing these needs with the families I work with and have the support of our TAC cohort, trainers, and the plentiful resources.
